Scout Sunday and Scout Sabbath

Scout Sunday - Weekend  or week of February 7 and 8
(check with your place of faith)

Attend your place of worship.  Some places of worship also recognize their scouts at the service.  Check with your place of worship.

Scout Sabbath Day - Saturday, February  14

As an alternative to your typical place of worship I cordially invite you to attend service at our sponsoring organization since 1964, Salem UCC (http://www.salemchurchverona.org/), located in the heart of Verona starting at 10:15am. During the service there will be a very special presentation by Troop 349 who will be presenting the church with two Eagle Scout plaques indentifying the 81, and still growing, Eagle Scout recipients dating back to 1967!
Yours in Scouting,
Dan Durnen

Pack 549/Troop 349 Chartered Organization Representative Salem UCC Member

For any of these dates wear your class "A" uniform to your place of worship and receive a Scout Sunday patch.

Contact your den leader if you participated at a place of worship so a patch may be ordered.

What is Scout Sunday you ask? The Boy Scouts of America annually celebrates its founding on February 8, 1910, based on the program started by Lord Baden Powell in England on August 1, 1907. Scout Sunday began being celebrated in the middle 1940s.
The Scout Sunday tradition was started to make people in houses of worship aware of Scouting, and to give the opportunity to Scouts to live out their “Duty to God” pledged each week.
The Scout Law says that a “Scout is Reverent” and the Scouts of all ages promise to do their “Duty to God”. These values strengthen youth character in their family, community and faith.
